Do you believe that being the best in your company, or having fame and recognition, will bring you happiness?
The answer is no. Recognition and/or fame are not permanent. It’s nice to be recognized on stage or for a weekend conference but what happens when you go home? How many people do you see in your company that are the stars in their category one year and no where to be found the next?
Is there happiness in having power?
Control over your own destiny, or the destiny of others does not ensure happiness or contentment nor does it promise any significance. Being a leader in your company is amazing and worthwhile however it doesn’t bring you consistent happiness.
Is there happiness in wealth?
We all know wealthy people and we can see that they have as many problems as you and I. Just look at the rich and famous on television. Especially those on reality television. Yes, living life is much easier when you have enough wealth to be comfortable but wealth may not bring you happiness.
Often people who have large sums of money are less happy, lonelier, and more suspicious of other people’s motives. Fortune does not ensure happiness.
It’s called living your life on purpose. Living your life through purpose. Living your life through your life’s mission. Knowing your unique why.
Many people do not feel fulfilled by their life however they really want to be fulfilled and they keep asking how or what they can do to get the feeling, the sense of happiness by being fulfilled.
Most humans want to feel as though they are a part of something much larger or bigger than what they are currently doing. You want to know why you are doing what you do. You want to belong. You want to have a reason for doing what you do.
Your reason, purpose, or mission in life can be expressed simply as:
Passion + Service + Vision = Purpose
Wherever you are right now – succeeding in your business, failing, feeling enthusiastic, or just depressed, you can deepen and heighten the success of your life if you put this formula to work.
Let me give you an example. Coming from a direct sales background for over 17 years I had a lot of knowledge about how to sell my companies products, book presentations, and recruit. I was one of the top recruiters and one of the top in group sales in our company. But, early on with my last company, before I was at the top, I felt something was missing and I couldn’t put my finger on it. I loved my products, loved my team, enjoyed the company, had a lot of friends, etc. I just couldn’t figure out how to expand, grow, and reach the higher levels. I found myself happy one day and exhausted and depressed the next.
I had my vision, which captured my sense of what could be in my business over the next five years. I just didn’t understand what my passions were, which is being in love with your life, and how to be of service by giving of yourself to others in your business. Once I figured it all out and used my purpose in my business, my business tripled and I was promoted over and over.
It’s time for you to change. It’s time in both your personal lives and careers to reach a new vision. One that showcases your values, your purpose, and your reason for being on this earth. Find your purpose, use your purpose, and live your purpose in order to create lasting lifelong happiness.
