Running any kind of business is difficult. You are juggling a million things at once: figuring things out, getting sales, making connections, and much more! It can be exhausting and overwhelming, to say the least.
While blogging also takes a lot of time and energy, it can help those other areas at the same time. Blogging allows you to gain more visibility, get the word out to more people, and therefore increase sales. As you build consistency, and express yourself through your blog and social media, people will be more attracted and drawn to what you have to offer in your business.
You can reach even more people in an online forum. It allows you to craft what you have to say about your products and why your customers need them in a more planned-out manner. Beautiful and engaging pictures added to your posts can even bring more people to your site to order as well.
Taking on the task of blogging may seem daunting, but it doesn’t have to be. In fact, it can be a fun and pleasant process. I have put together a few ways that can help you stay motivated if you choose to start and continue a blog for your business:
Remember that it’s worth it
All of the time, energy, and hard work that you pour into your blog will be worth it. It will pay off with time and your consistent work. It’s so easy to get discouraged in the beginning when things are harder and we see little-to-no results, but remember that you are making progress and you will begin to see results soon!
You’re building a platform
This thing, this blog, that you’re building and putting together… it’s a platform on which you can sell and reach more people. It allows you to grow on another level and get more done in the long run! Think of it as an investment of your time. Some investments take time to bring results, but when they do, it can make such a big difference!
Keep your tasks as easy as you can for yourself
Some of the blog tasks will be boring, or even very difficult. So take joy in the more fun things, and make the rest of the work easier on yourself by reminding yourself that you can do this and you want to do this. From my experience, it can be fun to learn and accomplish new things! Showing your true personality, in a professional yet friendly way, can be both fun and useful. Focus on the enjoyable parts, take the more difficult parts in stride, and just do your best!
As humans and business owners, we have a habit of taking on more than we can handle and trying to do everything at once. So in order to stay motivated, I urge you to only take on tasks and projects that you can realistically accomplish. However, also don’t short-change or doubt yourself either, because you can do more than you imagined possible. My advice is to evaluate each task and consider whether it would be good for you or not, before you commit to it. Also, you can drop things or keep things basic as needed to keep your sanity as well. Not everything has to be perfect!
Set SMART goals
This point ties in with the previous one as it also deals with being realistic about what you can and cannot achieve. Setting SMART goals means they are specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timely. These are the type of goals that, once made, will drive and motivate you to move forward and succeed! Be realistic, but also be driven and determined!
Celebrate all of your wins
All of your wins, no matter how small, are worth celebrating. You have worked hard and achieved something. Celebrate it! Even reward yourself on occasion too. If it works for you, you can set up a reward system for yourself to help push you forward. You can also simply reward yourself in some way, periodically. For example, treating yourself to a movie or a new pair of shoes once a month as a way to reward yourself for your hard work.
Give yourself pep talks
Talk yourself up, to yourself! Give yourself compliments or other confidence-boosting pep talks. We are our worst critics sometimes, and have a tendency to get lost in our own self-doubt. It’s important to remind yourself that you are smart, strong, and capable, and you can do this! You have it within you to make and grow an amazing blog for your business!
Most importantly, take care of yourself!
When we don’t take care of ourselves, our work and efforts can suffer. To keep yourself motivated, you must remember that self-care is necessary! So, get enough rest, take breaks as needed, and accept help when you need it.
These motivational tips may seem simple or trivial, but they have carried me a long way so far in my various journeys, and especially with my blog and business. Blogging can be so rewarding and fulfilling, even though it may take time and adapting to, at first. You can also view it as a creative outlet that helps further your business at the same time.
